CANTO XIII – TO VICTORY
Why us mortals crave tales of stories of old
Full of men and of women of all races stout and bold
Has been a question asked since time itself began
And we tell these stories to others again and again
This is yet just another tale on the pile we read
Tales of those captured and then again freed
Of warriors and mages doing battle in sea and of sky
Stories that make us question our morals and make us ask why
It is something found in every race and every age
From children to elders reading page after page
Legends of honor and myths full of glory
Are what most crave when they hear a good story
Yarns do we bards spin to fulfill the craving we all do get
And it is our job a sense of place and a stage we do set
Within my words ye have found yet another tale
Upon which other travelers and sailors ye now can tell
Entertaining ears and minds for hours endless we do talk
A feat upon which others had best not balk
It is hard on our voice and our lungs and our lips
To be speaking forever in rhyme about pirates and ships
But the why is what ye are asking by now
As I tell of the part where they fight for their town
It is not something that is easy to answer or see by many
But a question that has been answered by one all too plenty
They are here to inspire us to do deeds both stupid and brave
Give us a reason for us to rant and to rave
Our passions rekindled hearing these stories from centuries gone
Listening to the bards sing their ancient mariner's songs
What ye are to take away from this story is not mine to teach
But for ye to find reason in and for that reason ye reach
Everyone gets something else from the stories I sell
Of heroes that fought and died to send rotten bastards to hell
Maybe in yer mind ye think the heroes all too rotten
And that Captain Cecily should have more than she has gotten
I will not judge ye nor yer thoughts as it is not my place in this land
For I am no preacher or monk here to judge any good mortal man
A keen ear is all that I require for me to sing my song
As we drink ale and dance to it all day and night long
For it is a good ser that does sit does and listen on in good time
To every single beat and every attempt at a rhyme
All that I ask of ye in this world is not judge other men
No matter what from these stories they grok and do ken
For it will be a much happier place in this world if we did
Instead of for others we judge them lesser and make dead
But ye have sit now many an hour and the sun is close to setting
And our tale now half down and some more ye now are getting
Watch as that golden orb delves beyond the horizon to the west
And then watch again later as it wakes up and rises to east
But for now let the sky turn from blue to orange and red and purple now too
And watch the stars and the moon come out to dot our skies a darkest of blues
Pitch black now shall it be very soon in this port town
As the sun ever does tire of us and to bed it goes down
Where it goes is not something anyone knows
Just that when it does sink in the moon it does tow
By these stars and this moon many sailor like ye
Have navigated our wide world on the oceans salty and blue
Every a guide truer ye would not find in any person or tool
And anyone saying otherwise is but a bothersome fool
Up in those stars we can see the god of our world
And their stories in these stars are now writ and told
Guiding us through from town to port and again back
As we look up at the night sky pitched in purple and black
No matter how good the sciences get at their work
Nothing is as good as up at the night sky we look
And use these stars to point on down
To the next inn we do need at a nearby town
And within their skies we do but safety great find
Without them our trade routes and survival we could not ply
So here's one to the stars and the gods that dot them in white
And answer us when up and do pray for answers to our plights
A mug or a glass we do offer them full and hearty of foam
And we know that when we travel we are never truly alone
Their eyes down upon us to this day as they were long ago
When these townsfolk of this port did try a tyrant to throw
Off her mighty high throne now burning in reds and of golds
Her townsfolk having grown a mighty bit too bold
Remember the fires that they set and the embers do fly
Up into that starry filled and purple seeped night sky
For the sky that we see now is the same one they did back when
They began their fight against the pirate queen and did do rebellion
If the stars still sit in that sky that now looks at us drunks on a hill
Than surely they looked favorably upon the townsfolk's burning wills
So let us return to that scene all too familiar yet
Of cavalier corsair Captain Cecily and her ousting begin
Just let the cool air from the sea coax us as we remember their names
Of those that sacrificed themselves to stop this ghoulish old dame
A moment of silence before
We move one once more
For the braves that sacrificed themselves for this town by a shore
Known only to others as the mighty Cape Qorre
So as ye knew last
Our tale ended with a blast
From angry wench lasses
Who had incited the masses
To rebel is a thought not many give credence to or think
And leave the job of protecting their town to the soldiers or kings
But what happens if those betray ye or strangle the life
Out of ye and make nothing but pestilence rife
Then up to arms should ye take and bring up yer sword
And against the king and the tyrants defy their every word
It is a right emboldened in us since the dawn of life did begin
A right belonging to every mortal man and woman
And these did ever so take up the mantle of soldier and knight
And in that icy cold fog they set to make things yet right
Gunpowder and embers did burn into the roads and the snow
And swords did try to stick into the queen with nowhere else to go
She could just slash at them and cut them into the chum she saw them
And into the oceans and the rivers did run red as she dumped in
The ravines their bodies did soak
Upon the blackened waves their lives did choke
As their guts did spill into the waves and the tides
Having for the town given up nobly their lives
And not a bullet could pierce the flesh or the scales
Of the pirate queen who had risen from hell
No matter how well they aimed or at what it did falter
With bullets reloaded and fired quickly one after the other
They would plink or saunter off her in a manner unspoken
None of her skin or her bones hit, she remained yet unbroken
Into that fire that they volleyed she just marched down on through
Her skin coated in red from their blood staining her scales deep blue
Eyes were now slit in a manner displaying anger unrivaled
As their plan quickly went to hell and their long work unspiraled
Her claws did grasp but many a neck that night
And gave the townsfolk once more a ghoulish old fright
One by oen she would slowly snap their throats into two
And dye the ground a disgusting red hue
Seeped in their blood she would stomp and would scream
Reminding them that once and for all she was their eternal queen
Her clothes were slowly battered and chewed at full of holes
From bullets shot from guns wielded by brave mortal souls
Her hat was half burned and her cape was now singed
And at this sight any mortal would ever do cringe
Her teeth did a number on their weapons to break
And upon the guts of women and children her thirst she did slake
Screams and roars echoed shrill and monstrous from her teeth
Heard ever from the edge of town to the deep barrier reefs
Whatever she was made of was stuff all too tougher
Than even the strongest of padded mails and of leathers
There was no way they would win with such small wounds
And their end they feared was coming all too soon
Was there no way to hurt a demon of the deep with mortal iron
For the townsfolk untrained of soon battle would tire
Barely a chip or a dent was made in her flesh
Though all of it caused her endless rage and distress
A few brave old fools got a horrible idea in their minds
And soon remembering the queen's ride that was blind
The Blind Whore still stood in port all too hearty
So upon it they sent a venturing party
Armed with torches and pickaxes to tear it apart at the hull
Of its masts and its cannons it would render now dull
Those men and women of all sorts of races and kinds
Soon found themselves oh so quickly aligned
They attempted to attack it and set it on fire
And send Captain Cecily into a situation ever more dire
When upon the mast one did climb to tear down the flag
And stupidly called for the keel the pirate queen to drag
Captain Cecily at once turned to those on her ship now stowing
And overboard she declared at once she would be throwing
She jumped and landed on her own deck with a clatter
Letting the stowing crew knew exactly the matter
What they had to deal with was a siren now incensed to the edge
Of the bottom of the sea their bodies the rest would soon have to dredge
She roared as the flames caught on to her sails
And her voice turned from anger to saddened sea wails
Her Fang and Berserker made quick work of the men on her ship
But them having pushed it from the docks she had surely not bet
The Blind Whore soon made its way to the foggy path hidden
In where the Runner's High lay a ship of beasts now ridden
The flames gave her away as a beacon sent from the gods on high
And declared that her end would be in their path now on nigh
When she saw that it was a trap long planned ahead on this route
To the other boat she began to scream and to shout
ye fools know not in what forces ye trifle in this night
Having started with me a foolish long fight
Long I now will drag out yer deaths and see ye but plea
For yer life at the feet of cavalier corsair Captain Cecily!
ye traitors disgust me through every bone in my flesh does sit
And from every limb of yer body I shall tear ye to bits!
Every piece of yer flesh and yer innards I shall feast
ye stupid and hardheaded ship full of beasts!
I shall shit on yer graves and send ye to the deepest of depths
Of yers will be only the cruelest and slowest of deaths!
My ship may be burning but ye the last of me
Have very well with yer eyes have not seen!
Even those who await me on the edge of the town
With their guns packed and their swords now out drawn
Cannot save ye or each other from my rage now unraveled
To hell with ye all I now send down the underworld traveled!
How dare ye spit on me yer queen and yer ruler rivaled not in the isles
Upon me committing an act of treason most vile!
And with these final words I do speak to ye mortal land ken
I will have it all yet and off with all of yer heads!
So she screamed over and over as the beast's ship lured her on in
Into the cove of a dark and foggy crystal coated den
This was the place where most trade was plied in secret on days on past
Hiding from Captain Cecily the trade with the south done fast
With the supplies that Olympia did send
They declared that Captain Cecily in this cave would now end
For Olympia! For Olympia! The only symbol of our hope!
May by dawn the pirate queen be hanging from our mast on a rope!
Let her rot for all the crimes she has commit to our kind!
Let her rot in her beloved dark depths of the choking ocean brine!
Our town we now reclaim with this volley of shells and cannons now roaring
Upon blessed wings of Ivorhala may our ship now be soaring!
Reclaim Qorre once and for all in the name of mortals who trade and deeply do drink!
MAY CAPTAIN CECILY ROT IN HELL AND WITH THIS THE BLIND WHORE NOW SINK!
They shot one off all too lucky a blow
And down into the ocean The Blind Whore did go
The pirate queen screamed she would come back from the grave
That this was not the end of this seafaring knave
In their dreams she would haunt them until she could return
And upon their town set fire and let them all burn
She vowed revenge even if she had to climb from hell back on
To the shores so golden that she again would set foot upon
ye have not seen the last of me, ye foolhardy braves!
Once again I shall rise to make ye all my willing slaves!
So lock up yer daughters and wives for ye never do know!
When Captain Cecily will return with revenge on tow!
ye idiots yet will cheer and will party for days on end!
And that is when my truest dark reign shall ever begin!
ye would be dumb to ignore my words as I drown in this cave in the deep!
ye have reaped what ye've sown and what ye have sown shall ye reap!
So get out and leave me be in my watery coffin cold and black!
Mark my words yet ye mortal bastards, for I shall be back!
And with that Captain Cecily did not up and return for a breath
And after a while they all were convinced she had at last met her death
But if ye are a ser smart as I know ye to be true
ye know this isn't the last of the pirate queen on that ocean so blue
But how she comes back is another matter wholly
Speaking tales and of rhymes of a woman so gross and unholy
For now though the town a peace did know warm and gold
As if welcoming a friend coming in from the cold
Though snow fell on the bodies of those that died all too brave
And picking them up and putting them yet in a proper grave
Their lives were not lost in a vain sense and found in their heavens a glory
Their part now played out in our long piracy story
To those men and those women we now tip our caps and do honor
Their sacrifices most valiant lest their townsfolk be gonners
It would have offed my poor ancestors and maybe yers as well
If they had not succeeded in their gamble to send the pirate queen to hell
A tale to be remembered for all time in this shore
A tale of heroism and victory in mighty Cape Korre
The fall of a pirate queen I have spoken to thee
Of on down she went, the cavalier corsair Captain Cecily
CANTO XIV – CURSES
But like any story worth its merit in gold and in ale
I have yet more of this story for ye to yet tell
In lesser tales would we now end this and leave
But from such old cliches I grant ye reprieve
For nobody that night actually saw her drown
Nor stay in those briny waves all the way down
A sea demon and siren is tougher than
Any trickery that was come up by a mortal man
Though she applauded them for their effort and trickery succeed
Again with her rule would the town try to plead
For on the night of celebration that drew long in the tavern halls
With victory songs echoing off the brothel's walls
Gave the pirate queen in the waves time to heal and swim
And her plan to retake the town had begun once again
They knew it not for she stayed far away near the wreck of her ship
Giving pleas to the only gods she found worthy of worship
Make me rise again oh please
For I am not done with these
Mortals who would mock my name
And spit upon every bit of my fame
We shall rise again and take this town
And to every last one of them shall at once be knocked down
How dare ye mock a pirate queen in her prime
Upon yer deaths on nigh it is now once time
For yet did terror truly known had come to the shores
Of this port side town of mighty Cape Korre
And if ye would like to know then I shall tell to thee
The revival of none other than cavalier corsair Captain Cecily
