CANTO IV – BOMBS AWAY
A long night did fall upon the town and the ports
And down in the ports the townsfolk did work
While Captain Cecily was out cavorting with whores
And dining upon their freshly killed gore
Distracted too much to want to go into town
Unaware of the fact that nobody was around
They gathered their men and their women up too
To form a mighty and angry seafaring crew
Armed to the teeth in leather and mail
With cannon and cutlass they'd hope to prevail
They washed the sides of the sloop with great haste
Its sides they plated up and the sails they did brace
They polished the cannons until they did shine
And scraped from the sides a salty old brine
Aboard they did gather shells and balls of black steel
They greased up the deck and unstuck the main wheel
Once again this ship would turn on a dime
And into the night they snag old fisherman's rhymes
They had the dwarven magician sit by the side
Of the ship and enchant everything upon her new ride
Enforced was the wood and the iron that formed
The body of the boat to endure any shell or loud storm
With her magicks abound it now felt closer to plate
As worn on the backs of mainland knights so great
Ye could not tell just from looking at her
That this small wooden ship could endure the queen cur
The cloth that the sails were so beautifully woven
Would now become untearable and so it be proven
Should the pirate queen try to aim for their masts
She would find that her plan was failing quite fast
They fluttered and waves as soft as any old feather
And could now endure any angry sea weather
With those reinforced they could now sail without fear
Across the black salted waves they could bravely now steer
Perhaps even find that they could now go and demean
That nasty old blue ghoulish pirate queen
A fight for the ages would soon rage on shore
Explosions from cannons sounding through all of Cape Korre
The yeng lass wizard took to the cannons and shells
The cannons and shells that ring louder than any church bells
And upon them cast a fiery magick so blinding and blazing
And encased in them lightning and thunder amazing
Upon impact they would scatter and burn their mark blackened with ash
Explosions and damage almighty as wood and iron do clash
The starboard now holed up with a mighty loud din
The lightning and fire crackling spreading up from within
Planned was that the shells would explode on her ship
With a tornado of flames and of lightning let slip
To burn down Captain Cecily's boat in a seaside duel
Magicks swirling and eating her alive like a drunken old fool
Spit the rotten queen out her corpse singed on the shore
And reclaim the name of our town of mighty Cape Korre
So long did the townsfolk did work on this boat
Making it something they could be proud of and could freely now gloat
The town would happily forever be in the dwarf's richly debt
If she could sail on and off their rabid piracy threat
Kill of the queen and morale drops on throughout
The ranks of the pirates as they are given to route
They would run off and leave their town forever and a day
They refused to let Captain Cecily have her vile ways
It seemed all too easy to just chance upon luck
To hire this dwarven magician full of pep and of pluck
She agreed all too fast and a few had their doubts
If this mage with the face of a kid could back up her clout
To just pay her a tithe now and again
In return for what was hailed to be a guaranteed win
Could they trust this girl some off and did wonder
Some could not help but think they had made a serious blunder
What if the girl turned traitor to their crew
Is there anyone that could stop her? What could they then do?
Was it fair to put everyone in debt?
When tonight they had only just met?
Some were plain nervous and it was no fault of their own
'Twas a scary grave thought to fight and sail into the unknown
And it is not like they had any way
To celebrate their work of a long busy day
The ship was ready to do sail and to fight
And so they christened it with a goodly old name
And called this new boat The Hellfire's Dame
After working long sweaty hours into the starry bright night
Captain Cecily had taken ahold of the brothel again
Which meant no ale and no whores for a proper party to begin
They celebrated their job with only some cheer
Wishing the water they drank was some rum or some beer
If the fight went well though they would have back their town
Away from Captain Cecily they would rip off her crown
They could fill themselves then on booze and of women
Or if some did prefer, go out cavorting with the seamen
It would be a veritable orgy of pleasure and sin
A town freed from a tyrant's grasp and her ghastly sea kin
So to rest they did from dawn until noon
It was not a long rest, the time to duel was drawing too soon
The deck and the shells do not make the greatest of beds
But even then the tired old folk slept akin to the dead
Their bodies haggard from their scrubbing and building
Their stomachs now roaring and aching for something quite filling
They would fill up on fish and of meat
And of fruit and of bread made from crushed brown wheat
And water and juice they would chug down like ale
Then after their feast they donned their leather and mail
Each armed with at least a gun and a sword
Just in case any of Captain Cecily herself made it aboard
The weather that day was as fair as could be
With the sun rising so fully over the edge of the sea
The air was only a tiny bit cool and the breeze was quite light
It would make the perfect setting for a port side fight
ye could smell the sea and everything it contained
A few clouds did dot the sky's blue domain
If Ivorhala was favoring anyone they knew not who
It could go either way with of him what they knew
The god of the sea was known to take favorites not
Unless they offered him wine and offered a lot
Into the sea they would pour it by the glass
Wishing for winds to push their sails on quite fast
Or to win against the enemy ship
Or to avoid the sting of the punisher's whip
But even then he was a fickle old bastard
Who did not care what matter her scattered
He was a shark with a beard of tentacle
Encrusted with a slimy caked layer of barnacle
Sharks do not care what the realms of humankin do
They just care they get to swim through the mighty ocean blue
It is especially true of any immortal
Like Ivorhala the shark most immoral
Of all the gods he was the worst one to please
Perhaps he favored neither ship this day for his blessing to appease
Most likely he just watched on for a free show
Waiting to dine on the crew of the first ship to go
Either way he would win a meal free
To fatten up his rough skinned shark belly
Whichever one won the other would become
Nothing more than a pile of godly red chum
Around the time the sun hit the highest point it could reach
Captain Cecily began to sail on into port near the edge of the beach
Her ship rolled on in with cannons open on starboard
Facing the dwarf and her crew with cannons on port
Face to face the queen and the wizard grinned and laughed
The wizard's new crew nervously sitting at the aft
Their hands did shake upon sight of the queen beside
Afraid of this ghoulish and blue skinned old siren
They clattered their swords and their guns dripped out powder
Afraid of the queen and her reputation and power
The wizard did sigh at her motley new crew
Sitting atop a new boat resting in the ocean so blue
The Whore and The Dame were meeting at last
With flags run up high and proud alongside their masts
Their guns pointed at the other with glee
The wizard and the siren ready to do battle at sea
They pointed their guns up on high
And fired each a bullet up into the sky
This signaled to all that the match had begun
The townsfolk watching and nervously awaiting news of whom won
They drove their ships out past the port to the waves cresting out
In the wide open area they would gladly have their bout
Captain Cecily's ship was big but was fast
And the wizard's own ship was built strong to last
It would be a battle of attrition a while
Against the pirate queen who ruled oh so vile
With magickal cannons cracking on through the air
Pouring out lightning and heat they could hardly now bear
But it was a small price to pay to see if they would win
And against Captain Cecily's ship they finally made a nice loud din
But it did nothing to dissuade her so soon in the fight
For into the ocean she would show her true might
The Whore was not sunk yet but off the plank she did leap
Into the waves of the ocean blackened and deep
Where she did went nobody cold follow easy
The Dame sending after her a volley after volley
But in the end none of their blasts could reach
Her hiding in the mighty gnarled ocean reefs
After a while they stopped sending out shells
When a quiet did wash over the ships did fell
Not long did it stay and soon silence did break
When Captain Cecily boarded The Dame and offed the first mate
Not a one could land a shot or a slash upon her hard scales
The crew of The Dame would now know true hell
Their plan had failed and they soon were found routed
Their lives would now end was not something they doubted
Fears kept them from fighting well at all
And one by one the crewmen did fall
Until all that was left was the yeng magician dwarf lass
Who gave out a sigh and a quick spell she did cast
No way in the name of the Embers would she go risk her life
Against a pirate queen with a hunger for children so rife
Though she was older than the queen by an age
She still looked so yeng and blinded by rage
The queen would mistake her for any other child
And off into the sky she did fly away from Captain Cecily reviled
The town had not won and the wizard now loathed
The pirate queen herself and the townsfolk now both
A guaranteed win? Her arse she would say
And from the town she would stay ever away
Not giving in to their requests anymore
Not to the people living on the shore
Not to the folk that lived in mighty Cape Korre
The Dame was sunk down into the sea and there it still lies
They say it is haunted by all the men and women that day did die
I would not go near it if I ever were ye
It is not worth any treasure it may have in the salty ocean blue
There is naught on board any more magickal shells
All that is left is a ship sent to a watery hell
Left to rot as a reminder to all mortals and men
Not to be messing with Captain Cecily and her pirate kin
Ivorhala himself uses it as his home
On days he is too tired the ocean to roam
We speak no longer of it unless we invite
The wailing of those crewmen who died there all night
It was a godsawful old loss for this town by the shore
And Captain Cecily did more reign the mighty Cape Korre
And so ends this part of the story I am sing to thee
And we tell now another tale of the cavalier corsair Captain Cecily
