The stage is now fully set, so let's let the final battle begin
CANTO XX – HOLY ORDER OF THE MARTYR
In lands far west of here through land and tree
Far far away from our ports and the sea
On the coast west near the mountains lay low
A kingdom called Tanjil where the holy men go
Paladins and clerics and priests and shamans are they
Living in this kingdom wide in castles built of stone most gray
On pilgrimage most all do go on their lives
Traveling the world on down and to the mountains high
The happiest and holiest of soldiers and men there pray
As the sun rises over their castle at the start of each day
A kingdom happier with wines and food known all around
From its stately king down to the peasants in town
They are blessed by a mix of all the gods and Alicia too
Where this kingdom is made home to a holy martyr troupe
A band of soldiers who act mercenary to any good cause
Of men and women of every race their noble deeds draw
In to recruit as they march all over the world to spread the good word
Doing so by speeches and magicks and scriptures and sword
ye can send a messenger to Tanjil's king if ye ever need ask
To hire them up for yer cause or any holy task
They were formed and founded back after the gods did breathe
Angry words at each other and from their wrath Alicia did reprieve
After her death a few soldiers who had lived deep in the caves
Hiding from the twins did but go to her grave
Revering her as greater than anyone else to step foot on Nahn
And there would come no other worthy of worship in our history along
Of her name they did take and in her name they would fight
Against demons and gods if need be and set things all right
A perfect balance they seek and of all gods they favor at once
None one shall this troupe favor in an act of greatest prudence
Lest an imbalance again come to our terra and earth
Once again a great strife between gods is now birthed
All gods and immortals and demons are but equal to men in their eyes
And to no other belief will they give in to their lies
To keep Alicia's word sacred and close to this land they do keep
And so long as gods and mortals exist in Nahn their work will never know sleep
With spears and flags risen up mighty in flight as they march ever along
Resting only at night and by day hiking as they sing holy songs
Clad in armor made of plate and leather with Alicia's symbol in red on white
Ridding the world as needed from any immortal blight
They have spread their name and their deeds across the world entire by now
Holiest of powers to all that seek them they will ever endow
For the right coin and drink can ye buy them to rid ye of anything ye ask
So why not give them a call and have them put to a task?
They exist still in this day marching along as repentant as any flagellant monk or priest
Taking upon them the sin of us all from the men to the beasts
I speak of these crusaders in terms most flattering and endearing to ye my good ser
For it is them they are the heroes of this story and our prosperity they did spur
Ridding the world of darkness and corruption is a task not easy or quick
But for us we shall always remember their task most gallant and heroic
For ye see when Captain Cecily returned from slaying that dragon that threatened us all
And forced us her home to rebuild her and to refill her darkened halls
The head she made us clean and strip away the fat and the meat
So by her mantle she could hang it up as a prize ever worthy and neat
The skull and jaws of this leviathan open wide to threaten any guest she did host
Reminding any who visited here who of authority and power had most
This skull was hers to intimidate with and of it she threatened us plenty
Those teeth on it were still sharp enough to kill us all but many
All she would have to do is tie us up and have our necks pushed on through
Down would it clamp through our throats and her floor stained a bloody red hue
As our mayor and tyrant and queen she still acted all in her name
And to all of the isles down the chain once more did we speak ill of her fame
She cared not what attention she got from this be it good or bad or any at all
Nothing could possibly chip away at her ego nor make her pride go and fall
The pirate queen declared that at that point not even a god could stop her now
And to even angels and the twin sisters that made us she gave up a vow
Should any come down and try to smite her and stop her in place
Her sword and her gun they would know and she would off them in haste
Stealing of them their coins and powers and weapons and robes
It mattered not how many ye sent after her she would off them in droves
Even Ivorhala may be next on the platter for her to slaughter and kill
Hunting down even a shark god just for the fun and the thrill
Maybe he too could be stripped of his fats and hung on the wall
And up on her mansion would she make herself a trophy wall
It mattered not if ye were a dragon or a shark or a person or beast
Upon yer innards would she splatter and devour and feast
If not even dragons can handle the might of her ship and her spear
Then what left in Nahn was there for this queen to but fear?
She danced and sang every day and night as the stars came to shine
Going down to the brothels again to kill and toss whores in the brine
Her favorite ill games still played every day by people unwilling
And upon this good town she gave an aura most thick and most chilling
A few vagrants did try as they passed on through town to fight her and win
Only to find that it too was a useless struggle as she won again and again
Her power was now rising ever greater than it had been the year she was gone
It would be all too soon would she hit the point she would have grown far too strong
For any mortal to harm in any way possible by any weapon forged on this land
The pirate queen would not bow to anyone at all, not of beast or of man
So this is when word of the martyr troupe came to the folk of the town
And of their might and their prowess did the word get quickly around
Perhaps they could pitch in and donate the only coins they had left in their name
And donate it to this troupe of legendary might and of fame
Demon hunters be they and specializing in offing immortal curs and bastards
Of their brains and their guts would they dash up and splatter
If anyone now had chance to defeat the pirate queen at all lest she reign
Forever and a day on more and their rebellions be all but in vain
They ought to try for at this point it was the last shot that they had
To get rid of the pirate queen that ruled them ever so mad
So pitched in did they every last coin and gem they could afford to give
And off with a messenger did they send to them with a plea but to live
Away from this madness and this demon that had plagued them all too long
Could ye please off this bastard queen whom our suffering does prolong
We care not what methods ye use nor what tools ye equip to do yer job well
Just please take her away forever and send her rotten soul down to hell!
She came from the sea born only of hate and of salt and tides black
And upon our homes and lives and our port has she chosen to attack
She rules by force and gets her way no matter what and cares not
If she has to kill us or torture us and leave our bodies to rot
Embargos long and painful has she caused so we starve of goods
Needed to survive as hale and hearty as seamen but should
Our whores does she kill in manners most vile and cruel
Of all the demons and monsters our port has encountered she is the worst in the world
So take our coin and in yer debt forever shall we be
If ye would but rid us of the pirate queen who calls herself Captain Cecily
And so the troupe heard their pleas and took their coin with a nod and a grin
Saying to send word back at once that the pirate queen will not bother them again
The martyr's troupes hatched a plan that night as they camped by the edge of the town
Making us promise that of their presence there that word not get around
Not until they met with the queen themselves and issued her a letter with haste
Tricking her into believing that they only wished to meet a demon so great
Mercenaries lost and hungry did they disguise themselves as dirty and rotten
Pretending to be on the side of this pirate queen and her crimes now begotten
Enchanted were they by her cruelty did they pretend to be
All to ensure a meeting with this cavalier corsair Captain Cecily
Of course the pirate queen and her ego were all too great and she agreed
To meet up soon with this group full of dirty old mercenaries
So of their holy powers and weapons under their robes they hid and tucked
And to Alicia's name only they prayed for victory and luck
Any symbols were hidden away and their robes exchanged for local gowns
To appear as if they belonged to any of these island port towns
Dirt and rum they did rub into their skin and drink deeply of beer
So they could at least reek the same as any of us who made our homes here
Their camp was made to look bloodied and singed and unruly at best
Upon their once clean and holy visage did they spit and make mess
In the name of Alicia they did turn into curs and savages mean
Needed to do if they were to take down a ghoulish pirate queen
And in their sacks they packed a rope holy and blessed in a river once used
By Alicia to wash herself to bless this rope tied in a hardened noose
Hidden into their packs they put this rope and tightly zipped up their things
Across their waists and their backs did their bags up and sling
They were now ready to meet face to face with Captain Cecily soon
A message returned saying to meet her at the edge of the port around noon
More men and women on her side to go out and work in her name was all too appealing
To save herself from having to do her own work in murders and stealing
Bring her back her goods and have her own army to send off to wars
And bring back other country's women to have serve her as whores
What part of this deal was not amazing so she thought
Of her own mercenary crew to try out why not
Perhaps of flags and ships she could make and send them out into the blue
For the first time in her life perhaps she would have a reliable crew
Something for The Blind Whore to lead into battle and plunder
And of other ships and sailors to tear them apart and asunder
To pay them in the coin and the gems and the whores and ale she wanted not
And of the rest of their spoils would be all that she got
To sail around the whole world and take it over perhaps
All if she could hire these eager and vicious sounding chaps
The letter the troupe had sent only spoke highly of her name and her strength all too great
Of venturing with her in her name they could hardly but wait
Send us anywhere and make us do anything we will do it all well
Send all of yer enemies down into the deepest and hottest of hells
We care only that we are fed and drunk and unruly at all times
Of whores we want plenty and to get away with all sorts of crimes
We will gladly for ye now steal ships and men or sink them on down
Of this port city shall we ever defend and make yer home and yer town
Obey ye and make every man and woman within work harder to trade
Every single word and action and command of yers shall we and they obey!
We come from the west and the north hearing of yer deeds that far away
Word travels fast of the pirate queen and her ship in the bay
Of that dragon we know ye slayed and of mermaids ye hate
Shall we turn those fish men into chum and spread them around like bait?
Any town ye need us to plunder or pillage just give us the word
Ye will forever have our loyalty and our spears and our swords
All but the pirate queen has to do is to speak and decree
That we can be lucky enough to be the first crew of cavalier corsair Captain Cecily!
Long have we waited to be seamen and women terrifying and cruel
So instead of a rivalry against ye shall an alliance make do
We will not be fools like the curs in this town that try to rebel and fight
Only in yer name and the Whore's would we ever speak right
Ye deserve the best of the best do ye not with us agree
For of the best of sailors is deserving to this legendary pirate queen!
We end our note here so thank ye for reading and thinking of our potential boon
And a response form ye shall we ever be hoping to see soon
And so the trap was set and the game was afoot at long last
For too long had these people suffered and the die were now cast
By Alicia's name would this town be again set free
From the iron clutches of cavalier corsair Captain Cecily
A trap she not knew she was setting foot into for she did not
Ever once think that of this kind of scheming we would ever begot
Too dumb were we, just free muscle to her working for naught
And to have people eager to act as her arm was something she liked all a lot
So off she did sent that note saying yes and where to meet and when
And with this now said of the end I can now truly begin
The final war is not ready to set flame and to rage
All players now enter from the sides of the stage
Alicia's martyrs on one side enter from left if ye please
And Captain Cecily from the right, the queen of the seas
Bow to each other and put on a good show for us all
For upon the final act the curtains now rise in awe
For the heroes we now shall applause and cheer
And of the villain we now shall boo and jeer
May the show go on
May the show go long
And I hope ye shall stay and listen to this final fight on the shore
For the liberation of all is nigh in mighty Cape Qorre
And of the last acts I shall speak soon to thee
Of cavalier corsair Captain Cecily
The stage is now fully set, so let's let the final battle begin
